QSnews Update History 2006-01-07 01:43 v1.3b10 1) Fixed problem of QSnews stopping on articles that have a 'Lines: 0' header. Glad to see that one bite the dust! Thanks to ThAd! 2005-07-27 23:34 v1.3b9 1) Fixed the bug that delivered the messages to the QS inbox with the subject still encrypted. 2005-07-26 19:00 v1.3b8 1) Corrected the problem of the program not being able to transfer messages to QS after QS being closed while that mail is downloaded. 2005-07-07 23:00 v1.3b7 1) Fixed the problem of nym messages being overlooked. 2005-07-07 00:05 v1.3b6 1) I have fixed the the odd aborting behavior that both Miyako and ThAd found. 2005-07-06 13:00 v1.3b5 1) Fixed the access violation that resulted in the error "Cannot open file C:\Program Files\QuickSilver\notick.txt". 2005-07-05 19:40 v1.3b4 1) I changed QSnews to get the nym subject and esub passwords from QS automatically rather than the user entering the data manually. It is still possible for the user to enter subjects manually should they get non-nym mail in alt.anonymous.messages. 2004-12-30 01:20 v1.3b3 1) Fix an authentication bug. This is nothing that affects anyone currently. 2) I've changed the look of the QSnews program. Functionality remains exactly the same. 2004-12-26 16:00 v1.3b2 1) I have fortified the socks proxy support and all seems to be well. 2) In discussions on the or-talk Tor mailing list I learned that even though the internet controls that QS uses support level 4a, they were still doing dns lookups as well. That caused QS to be unable to use Tor hidden services since hidden services are not valid URLs. QS would quit with an immediate 'No Data' error. Since the controls I use come with the source, I was able to easily correct this problem. It should be noted that by QS doing the DNS lookup itself, there was a leakage of the users private info. Now there should be none. For test of the socks 4a code and hidden services, I was able to login to pantas hidden news service and check alt.anonymous.messages. Seems to be working great! I will be uploading QS and QSpop3 updates that correct the problem of dns lookups, shortly. 2004-12-07 15:35 v1.3b1 1) I've added socks proxy support. 2) Corrected a stack overflow on cancel during download. 3) Corrected a 'not ready for group error on closing after a failed download. 2004-06-28 01:15 v1.0.1 1) I've tweaked the article download routine to correct for 'not ready for head' errors from some messages. I know this has been a problem and I have had excellent results downloading all of a.a.m. hourly for several months. In that time I had only 1 error--'not ready for group'. If you have problems with these errors, let me know. 2003-01-02 00:20 v1.0.0 Module is complete NOTICE: I believe I have confused a few users with the method I chose to relay qsnews version info to QS when the user opens the 'About' dialog. Currently, if you install QSnews and immediately check the version info in the QS About Dialog, you'll find the previous version number still exists--and many users perform this check when installing plugins. Sorry, my plan worked out poorly. The new version number is given to QS the first time you run QSnews after update. The next QS update will run QSnews first time right after placing it in the QS directory during update. This will be invisible to you. 1) Gave main window a memory for position and size. Put QSnews where ever you wish on the screen. It will retain the state from run to run. 2) Turned off wordwrap in the newsgroup 'subjects' editor. Wrapping was causing errors. 2002-08-06 15:14 v.9b0.4 1) Ok...a couple users still had problems with QS not starting correctly from within QS. I have corrected the problem and tested with an individual experiencing it and all went well! I think it's fixed...:( 2002-04-18 00:38 v.9b0.3 1) Found bad logic on starting QSnews with command line switches. Hopefully this will cure the problem of QSnews not opening properly when called from QS. If you had that problem, let me know how it goes. 2002-04-12 03:14 v.9b0.2 1) Modified profile setup to allow use of fully qualified login id. This affects only those who must enter an entire login@newsserver.net in the profile field 'login'. 2) Added some boundry checking to make sure that QSnews is not opened inadvertantly off-screen. Checks guarantee window size and location within the screen viewport. Also added checking in the QS main program to return any error that might occured when QSnews is run. 2002-04-12 02:13 v.9b0.1 1) Fix saved esub messages to save with actual subject line. 2) When QSnews opens it looks to see if QS is also open. If so it centers its dialog over the QS main window. Turned out to be unreliable as currently written. I'm in a bit of a time crunch. I've disabled this for now. The dialog will center itself in the middle of the screen in all circumstances. 2002-02-17 14:20 v.9b0.0 1) Initial public release
